The Healthy Kids Program
When children and teens have health coverage, they are able to get the health care they need when they need it. That means they are less likely to miss school or end up seeking higher cost care in the emergency room. It also means families don’t have to choose between paying the rent or paying for needed prescriptions.
Oregon Healthy Kids is dedicated to making sure every child and teen in the state has access to health insurance their families can afford.
Healthy Kids provides no-cost, low-cost and full-cost health coverage options for uninsured Oregon children and teens up to 19 years of age. Coverage lasts for one full year and covers all health needs, including doctor visits, dental care, vision, mental or behavioral health services, prescriptions, and more. Children will not be turned away due to pre-existing conditions or be put on a waiting list. Family income will determine whether a child is eligible for the no-cost, low-cost or full-cost coverage option.
The Office of Healthy Kids
The Office of Healthy Kids is a part of the Oregon Health Authority, and enrollment work is done online or through the Department of Human Services offices across the state. An appointed Steering Committee offers feedback and guidance to the Office of Healthy Kids, with membership including insurance providers, advocacy groups, and service providers.
Healthy Kids is a leader in responding to the national challenge to provide health coverage for uninsured children.
